Eric Isaacs, director of Argonne National Laboratory, a multidisciplinary research center in the American midwest, talks about alternative energy solutions. He emphasizes the research on how to improve energy storage, particularly lithium-based battery technology.
“Twenty years ago we had some great innovations and new ideas asking the basic question: What materials would stores the most possible energy in the smallest possible space? That developed into technology of battery and that battery is now being manufactured and installed in the Chevy Volt [an electric vehicle],” he said.
