Ascent Solar Technologies, the Colorado makers of WaveSol thin-film solar modules, has recently moved forward with two profit-rich international distribution deals.
The first deal is with SW Solarwatt Ltd. based in Cyprus, and the second with Polymer Sun, which will distribute solar products to Singapore and Malaysia.
While Ascent Solar will benefit greatly from the deals, governments in Greece and Singapore are eager to watch solar energy thrive within their countries.
Compared with Spain and Italy, Solar growth in Greece has been tediously slow. However, Prime Minister George Papandreou hopes to change this, most recently by proposing a 200-MW solar park that will (smartly enough) replace an abandoned coal mine.
Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, plans on using deals like the one struck with Ascent to grow their renewable energy market by bringing in “high-value investments in manufacturing,” and increasing the number of specialists in the field over the next few years.
