Founded in 2008, the CleanTechies Blog has quickly gained traction in the CleanTech community, reaching thousands of professionals, career changers, students and other environmentally concerned citizens worldwide. The blog covers issues affecting renewable energy, resource efficiency, green building and sustainable transportation. Industry experts write about current trends, discuss clean technologies and policies and provide career advice.
“We are thrilled that the CleanTechies Blog has been nominated for this reputable award,” said Ian Thomson, CEO and co-founder of CleanTechies. “This affirms our goal to provide a platform on which our online community can stay up-to-date on global trends, technologies and current events, share ideas and insights and interact with like-minded professionals not only on a local level but also worldwide.” He further added: “We aim to be the largest and most powerful CleanTech community in the world. Our nomination demonstrates that we already have a relevant impact on our audience.”
The Weblog Awards are the world’s largest blog competition with over 545,000 votes cast in 2007 and nearly two million since 2003. One of the major goals of The Weblog Awards is to expose the world to a wide variety of blogs and to increase readership of all finalist blogs.

Done! I voted for you. I also added “Clean Techies” to the link list in the Gore’s Challenge community:

Just wanted to say thanks a lot for all CleanTechies out there who’ve been supporting our nomination. As George said, we’re currently in 2nd place – let’s all keep on voting once every 24 hours to make CleanTechies “Best Business Blog of 2008”!
Nice work team! It would be an important statement about the maturity of the industry for a cleantech blog to win “best business blog of 2008.”
Thanks again!
so far Clean Techies is in 2nd place…very good showing considering the quantity and quality of the competition. Keep up the good work!
Thats a great news…!!
Green should come first, so my vote is always with you. Best of luck!!
The first place website is a stock market conspiracy site run by the right-wing nut Patrick Byrne. He and his people are openly for canvassing for votes on message boards. That’s pretty foul, though I don’t know if it is against the rules. I think that you’re going to have to really push to overcome that kind of commercial website.
I see a diary up now on the heavily-trafficked progressive blog DailyKos urging viewers to vote for CleanTechies (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/1/7/11547/92741/217/681183). Not sure if it’s completely responsible, but CleanTechies now has over 500 votes and has gained more than a full point!
🙂
Thanks to all of you for your great support! TreeHugger published a big article on our nomination today, asking all of their readers to vote for us – this is fabulous news, incredible support and should help us and the green movement win!
CleanTechies Beats Out Non-Green Blogs for “Best Business Blog” Finalist

The Deep Capture blog is run by a character named Patrick Byrne, who funds the “65% Deception” anti-education movement, and is famous for saying his company was targeted by “The Sith Lord.” Comical as he is, he has plenty of money behind him and even promotes that blog on his company’s website.
we’ve cut the lead to half!…. if we can close the gap by another 5% or so today we’ll be looking very good.
Apparently canvassing on mailing lists and message boards is allowed by the rules, so there’s no reason this site can’t do that too.
Hey, that’s awesome ! You see, great commitment will always attract peoples attention and support. Be proud of what you’ve reached in this short period of time also for the benefit of the green movement. The nomination of the CleanTechies for the Best-Business-Blog-Award is a successful confirmation about your amazing work. You can be certain of further support. Cheer on and let’s “click” to more public attention. Hartmut
This blog (CT) may indeed have some value & virtue.
That doesn’t negate the fact that DeepCapture has more of both.
