Gamesa India continues to be a leader in India’s wind energy market as it received yet another large order recently.
The Indian subsidiary of Spanish wind energy company Gamesa announced, late last month, that it received multiple orders to supply a total of 198 MW wind energy turbines to project developers in India.
The company shall supply 50 units of G114-2.0 MW wind turbine in Karnataka and another 12 units to a different within the state. The larger of the two projects will be commissioned next year while the smaller one is expected to be operational by middle of this year.
Gamesa also secured contracts to develop wind energy projects in the western state of Rajasthan. The company shall be responsible for the construction and operation of the facilities. The larger of the two projects will host 50 units of G97-2.0 MW turbines while the smaller project will have 12 such turbines. Both the projects are expected to be commissioned by the end of this year.
Gamesa has been the leading wind turbine manufacturer in India for the last 3 years. In financial year 2015-16 the company managed to install over 1 GW wind turbines across the country. This accounted for an impressive 29% of the total 3.4 GW wind energy capacity that year.
India has emerged as a huge market for the Spanish turbine manufacturer. Indian wind energy market contributes 29% to the company’s global revenue.
The company is also expanded into the Indian solar power market which has a much larger growth potential than the wind energy market.
