After toeing the line for the past few weeks, just this morning the Maryland state legislature passed a bill (SB 791) that will provide robust and sustainable solar growth for years to come. Passing the State Senate 37-9, it is clear that Maryland’s policy-makers understand the significant benefits that solar is bringing to the Old-Line State.
By accelerating the solar goals for the state, there is no question that solar development will continue to hum along while creating local jobs, solar energy opportunities, and clean air – benefits that will accrue to all Marylanders. With a goal of deploying approximately 1,250 MW (established in 2007), this legislation will enable the state to move faster. Marylanders want more solar and they want it now, no need to wait.
We tip our hat to our hardworking partners on the ground and are indebted to our solar energy champions working tirelessly in Annapolis to usher in Maryland’s clean energy economy. A sincere thanks.
Time to celebrate with a bushel or two of Maryland’s finest blue crabs!!
