Describe your journey to where you are today
I spent 10 years in politics and government, followed by another 10 years building communications programs for national environmental groups. Along the way, I saw three things that the pro-sustainability side lacked: 1.) The narrative for a clean economy and how it was a viable alternative to the polluting status quo. 2.) Effective infrastructure (associations, groups, etc.) to deliver that narrative. 3.) A pay forward mechanism to help aspiring clean economy communicators learn from others’ mistakes and tactical lessons.
I set out to address those three gaps by founding Tigercomm, which remains the only speciality firm dedicated solely to helping clean economy companies win with customers, investors and policy makers. For that last 15 years, we have lived at the intersection of marketing, public affairs and clean economy, breaking new tactical ground in our work for over 140 client companies.
What does your company do, for who, and how does it fit into the bigger picture of solving global issues with clean tech?
We were founded to help clean economy companies win with customers, investors and policy makers. Tigercomm is the U.S.’s top marcom and public affairs firm servicing wind, solar, battery storage, PACE lending and micromobility companies.
If we’re successful, the clean economy sectors we service grow from disruptors to the dominant forces in their respective industries. It’s the most effective contribution we can make to solving the global sustainability crisis.
Do you have a motto or personal quote you love?
Our firm operates on the “3D Rule: No Drama, No Dysfunction, No Dishonesty.”
What do you wish you could tell the younger you – what would’ve been incredibly helpful to you ten years ago?
1.) The Zen Masters had it right. Multi-tasking is a lie. Do one thing at a time, so you can do it really well.
2.) Laugh more and have fun. Professional is a journey to be enjoyed, not a finish line to collapse across.
3.) What you’re offering in the world isn’t for everyone.
4.) Gratitude is a choice and a beneficial state of being.
