Commercial and industrial property owners in Stamford can now make their buildings more energy efficient thanks to the city’s new partnership with a clean energy group.
“I have no doubt the city will help lead the state going forward in green energy,” Bryan Garcia, president and CEO of the Clean Energy Finance Investment Authority, said during the announcement Wednesday.
The organization will bring its Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy program to the city and provide $20 million in financing, either up front or long term, for clean energy upgrades to buildings. Garcia believes a lack of financing is a major reason business owners do not make energy efficient changes to their properties.
