Fimer To Supply Inverters For 754 Megawatt Enel Solar Park In Mexico

Fimer To Supply Inverters For 754 Megawatt Enel Solar Park In Mexico

written by saurabh

Italian inverter manufacturer Fimer has been selected by Enel to provide equipment for the largest solar power project in Americas.

A subsidiary of Enel Green Power is developing a 754 megawatt solar power park in Mexico. The project will be the largest across North and South America once it is operational next year. Fimer will supply more than 600 of its R 11015 TL 1500V inverters to the solar power park.

The company received grant worth €9 million from German bank Deutsche Bank and Italian export credit agency SACE.

An estimated 1,700 GWh electricity would be generated from the Villanueva solar park every year enough to meet power consumption of over 1.3 million households. The projects shall also offset more than 780,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. Enel Green Power will invest $650 million on these projects.

Enel had secured the rights to develop these two projects in the first-ever renewable energy tender announced by Mexico in March 2016. The company entered contracts to supply clean energy for a 15-year period and clean energy certificates for a period of 20 years.

Enel Green Power Mexico is also another solar power project of 238 megawatts in Mexico. The Don José  project will generate 539 GWh electricity every year, enough to meet power demand of 410,000 households and offset more than 245,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

Enel Starts Construction On Largest Solar Power Project In The Americas

written by saurabh

Enel Green Power Mexico has started construction on what will be the largest solar power park across Americas.

Through a recently issued press release, Italy-based Enel Green Power announced that its Mexican subsidiary has started construction of two projects with combined capacity of 754 megawatts. These two projects will form the Villanueva solar power park which will be the largest project in Americas as well as the largest owned by Enel globally.

The two projects – 427 MW1 Villanueva 1 and 327 MW1 Villanueva 3 – will also surpass in size the largest projects in Brazil and Chile. The solar power park is expected to begin generation in H2 2018. An estimated 1,700 GWh electricity would be generated from the park every year enough to meet power consumption of over 1.3 million households.

The company was also awarded another solar power project – 238 megawatts – Don José in the auction. Construction in this project has also begun. Don José will generate 539 GWh electricity every year, enough to meet power demand of 410,000 households and offset more than 245,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

Enel already operates 728 megawatts capacity in Mexico – 675 megawatts of wind and 53 megawatts of hydro power capacity. Apart from the 992 megawatts solar power capacity under construction through Villanueva solar power park and Don José project, the company is also building 293 megawatts of wind energy projects. Thus, once all under-construction projects are commissioned Enel’s Mexico capacity would balloon to over 2,000 megawatts.

Solar Frontier PV Modules Selected For Small-scale Solar Power Projects In Mexico

Solar Frontier PV Modules Selected For Small-scale Solar Power Projects In Mexico

written by saurabh

Mexico-based solar power project developer Enilso has announced plans to expand its portfolio by setting up small-scale solar power projects in the country.

Enliso is planning to set up a number of rooftop solar power projects as well small-scale solar power projects for customers in the agriculture business. The project size will vary from 5-10 kW for residential rooftop projects to 200-500 kW for agricultural projects.

Enliso has opted to use CIS solar modules manufactured by Solar Frontier Americas, a subsidiary of US-based Solar Frontier. The CIS solar modules will be apt for high efficiency operations in Mexico as power loss in such modules is lesser than crystalline silicon modules in hot temperatures.
The projects are expected to be set up in the state of Sonara that borders the US state of Arizona. Rooftop solar power systems will help residents become self-sufficient to some extent by generating a part of their power consumption.

Solar power systems for agricultural customers will enable them to cut utility bills and help the customers use electricity generated from the modules to run irrigation pumps and cold-storage facilities for the produce.

Enliso has already built an impressive portfolio in Sonara. The company has set up a number of small-scale solar power systems at bus stations, parking lots and farms.
